Friend for Life

Friend for Life

Friend for life

I used ImageReady and Photoshop for this project, I also used iMovie. I used these tools together to create the animation and to create the movie. Photoshop was used to create the characters. it was a long process and there are still somethings that need to be added to it. It would be fun to talk with a younger audience and find out what kind of characters they like. Also what colors and backgrounds they like. The story and music will be up to us but it would be great to have that interaction.

Friend for life background and story

These are the background images used during the story. The story starts by the sun coming up and the day continuing to progress. Blue comes on the screen and he is waiting for his friend Red, he keeps waiting and waiting. The day begins to get dark and the sun does away and the clouds disappear. Blue tears up and than Red shows up, the both of them get happy and rejoice. They have fun and the sun comes up and the darkness goes away.

Friend for life Characters

Here are the characters for the story, they are just simple and funny looking drawings. It is aimed at kids so it has to look a certain way and feel.

Friend for life

Friend for life
Who took my pain
The cleansing flood
You remain
Wash over me
Till I can’t be seen

Living water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus, savior more of Thee
Jesus, more of Thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of Thee
Jesus, more of Thee

Friend for life
I‘ll carry on
Through the pow’r
Of this flood
Let it spill over, over
Till I can’t be seen

Living water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus savior more of Thee
More of Thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of Thee
More of Thee

Deep is the stain
Inside of me
But deeper the river
That washes me clean
I’ve been the one
Who cries in the night
But you’ve been
The friend of my life

Living water swallow me
Deepest river wash me clean
Jesus savior more of Thee
More of Thee
Come and ruin me with Your love
So no other is enough
Come and leave Your mark on me
Jesus, more of Thee
More of Thee

I2 Project: Friend for Life

We met as a group and we decided that we should use our skills. Vialo is good at translating and Thom is good at creating music. I was told to do the graphics for the project. Vialo translated a song first and the song is a religious song and it had to do with friends. We recorded the poem to be played during the video. I didn't want to plaster the screen with Jesus so I decided to come up with a children's theme. I wanted to create a little story that children can relate to and can see friendship. We could work with another school and they could collaborate with a kindergarten and we could create two stories. We could make it all come together and create a continuing story with every collaboration.

Red Rojos

I had to create a logo and website for a class and this is what I have come up with. It is about an imaginative band named "The Red Rojos" and I had to come up with everything from scratch. I decided to go with the red logo and a red mascot. I tried to create a reflection of the english word red, the reflection is the spanish word rojos. The red mascot is just a thing we want the fans to get connected with. The band is also an indie band and we wanted to direct it in a less professional look. We wanted to create a more fun and creative look, I think it looks better than basic professional website. It is a more fun professional side with a twist, it still looks professional yet it is fun. I think it turned out great and I'm finishing up the website as soon as possible.

WK Blog

I was exploring the Wieden + Kennedy site and I found the blogs for their offices. They have different blogs for different parts of the office. They just blog about what happens in the office and they write about some funny things. They show some of the progress of their clients and what they do on a daily basis. They show the founder Wieden and they the fun they have at the office. It shows how they have fun and how they still get their work done. It shows me that they are a fun company and it would be a great place to work at.

Wieden + Kennedy

Wieden + Kennedy is my favorite advertising agency, they do a lot of sports oriented advertising and marketing. They have done all of the Nike, Brand Jordan, and ESPN commericials. Their ESPN commercials are hilarious because of the dialogue and mimicing of sports. The Nike commericials are usually always something different, they always display athletes but sometimes people are chasing chickens and sometimes they make statements. Their work section has almost all of their ads, check out the moustache one and the old Nike commercials. It just shows you how advertising has changed and how different it looks now. I like some of the old school feel on the old ads but the new ads tend to be a little more creative. The old ones are good and they have their own creative aspect.

Gatorade

These commercials are hilarious, they remind me of some old school instructional movies about sports. All three commercials are pretty funny, but I prefer the basketball and football ones. The commercials themselves look like they have been in the Gatorade's corporate basement for the past twenty years. They made the old school look to go with the old school feel, the voice over is what makes it work best.

Your own Pepsi Can?

If your interested in having your artwork splashed over a can than go to that site and follow the procedures. It would be cool if our work got up there. It is just shades of blues and you can do designs. It has been a fun way for Pepsi to get more of their customers to be more involved with the company. I think more things like this will happen and it will continue to get consumers interested in participating in the company's success. It allows the consumer to feel like he or she is more than just a person who buys a product but that they actually help create. You can directly do it online or you can use another application. Maybe one of our cans will be in production.

Grindhouse Review

I just saw Grindhouse this week and it was an experience. Yes, the movie is grotesque and absurd. It is by far one of the the weirdest movies I have ever seen, it is basically an experience. It was also funny though and the dialogue was classic. It is a long time to be sitting in your seat to, so get ready to pay attention to something for a long period. It is something different though, it is something that people should definetly see and feel. The trailers in the movie are the even more ridiculous than the movies themselves, if you find violence to crazy sometimes than make sure to not watch the trailers. Also, there are some hidden messages in the movie about violence- even when violence is everywhere. So, pay attention to some of the details. The first movie is crazily fast paced while the second movie is all dialogue driven. The second film is the Tarantino film, if you don't like Tarantino than you won't like that second movie. Go check it out.

Cave drawings and writing

As we write something everyday, we really never think about how language came to exist. We just write and we do not look at cave drawings as a legit form of communication. We just see cave drawings as early paintings, almost doodle like yet I find that stuff to be almost amazing. I see it as a language and a form of continuing to standardize a symbol as definition. It is an amazing concept to me and I think it is as important as writing. Writing definitely is an advanced form but sometimes the simpler thing is much more beautiful. Make the judgement for yourself.

Graphical User Interface

I went to my friend's house the other day and he had Windows Vista on his machine. I started to use it and try to look for the new things. It was not as friendly as I thought it would be and I thought Vista was supposed to step it up. It just seems like it is the same as my Windows XP with some new graphics. The Apple OS seems to be better and it has shortcuts that people will use. It is a useful interface, it is pretty to but it isn't just all about the hype. I was a heavy Windows user before and I am currently typing on a Windows machine but the Apple OS by far seems to be the better one. Both are not perfect but the Apple OS is better and everything seems to run faster on it.

Grindhouse

Check this site out, it is the movie that we spoke about in class. It is an exploitation movie and the wikipedia article explains it well. There is also an interview with Tarantino in the new GQ, he explains it very well. Tarantino himself is crazy and unique mind to read about. His methods of mayham are not just careless and pointless, they result in beautiful films. His past films to me are the best movies that have been made since I have been alive. This film is unique thought because it is a dedication to the old movies of the past. Tarantino studied the films and he created his own version. It does not mean that these films are bad because they are exploitation films. Things do not always have to be bad because they are popular and are not way different from other things.

Guerilla Marketing

I love this website, this place shows different guerilla marketing campaigns around the world. It shows how creative people are and some advertisements are just pure art. They are amazingly creative and create for imaginations to run wild. It is not just what we see in the United States, advertisements are everywhere and they are most likely better. France is suppose to be the hub of advertising these days but it always goes through cycles. Go through the previous entries and check out all the ads, pick you favorite ones and come back and post a reply.

Gen-Esei

Everyone should go here and check out some of the graphic design/art. The stuff is unique and different. The abstract pieces seem dark and interesting, while the graphics section has variety. The sketches show you how some of his art evertually got finalized. It is a small site but it has plenty to look at and explore. You can quickly explore it or sit there and think about the art.

International Cellphone Charges

When going abroad people should always find out about their cellphones and how they will work internationally. The article by the NY Times will explain everything for you and it will tell you how to save money. Companies still using different technologies is the real issue, it would be great if Americans could just buy phones and move to different networks when we wanted too. We in the US do not technically buy our phones when we sign our contracts, we pay for them gradually while our contract expires. It would all be easier, but I guess we need a diversified market.

Skype Store

Since we have all been making Skype accounts, I thought that I should tell everyone that Skype has launched their own store. The store has all you need to set up the perfect Skype. The site sells an assortment of equipement and basically the things Skype itself has choosen. Take a look around but if your only using Skype once a twice in awhile than you don't need that stuff. I just put it up for people to see and enjoy.

The Superbowl of Texting

Ladies and Gentlemen of all ages, if you are great at texting than you must enter this contest to be the champ of text messaging. Yes, it is the Superbowl of texting. I do not think it is a sport but apparently it can be considered a sport now. You can win upto $25,000- it qualifies as a sport than. The championship will be held in NYC, so you will have home field advantage. I am kind of scared by this actually but if people are this fast at it than I want to see it. It is basically the world fastest typer contest but for the modern day. It should be entertaining especially if the west coast and east coast finalists are as good as each other.

Video Journals of Blockbusters

I having been wanting to see this movie for awhile and what makes it more interesting is the production of the movie. The making of the film is amazing and it is interesting to see the previews when you know that they filmed most of it on a green screen. When you look at these big blockbusters these days, their websites all have video journals. The cooler are ones when the director himself chimes in and talks about his movie. The younger director tend to do that and the older directors just have other people do it for them. Brett Ratner and Bryan Singer are usually more invovled with their video journals. Check out the one for 300 and see how movies are made.

Hollywood Stock Exchange

This is a HSX, it is the stock market for movies and actors. It is pretty interesting, you should go and sign up. I cannot fully explain the logistics of it but it is fun to play and do research on movies. It trackes how much money you make and it ranks you with all the players. I like to buy movies and see how they do. I usually sell them after a huge weekend and I dabble with a lot of independent films. The site is pretty good at explaining how prices are set and why certain actors most a certain amount. You can do research on IMDB.com, rottentomatoes.com, and boxofficemojo.com. Sign up and start to become a movie mogul!

Balancing Robots

These robots balance dynamically and moves more like a human, unlike robots that move like robots. In the video, one robot is pushed and he stabilizes by himself after he is pushed. He controls his balance, the robot is still operated by a human but once they figure out this technology than it can be programmed into a chip. It would be awesome if robots moved fluidly and not so jointed. Once they start to progress, I will update this entry. Go check out the video!

Gilbert Arenas

Another blog by a famous person in the NBA is by Gilbert Arenas and he is sort of a weird guy. He is ultra confident and odd so people like to read his blog. He is a guy who showered at half time in his uniform and he supposedly plays poker during half time too. He recently had a shootout with his teammate with $20,000 on the line. He shoot one handed from the college three point line and his teammate shoot with two hands from the NBA three point line. All he does is complain and say that his team is back together. I one for sure do not like to read it after I skim through it but he, unlike a lot of NBA superstars, is upfront about his ego and I can respect that.

Mark Cuban Blog

Mark Cuban is a billionaire who made his money by starting a business in the dot com era. His company was bought by Yahoo! and he recieved stock of Yahoo!. He later sold his shares and became a billionaire and he came into the public eye when he purchased the Dallas Mavericks. He has taken an average team and built it into a powerhouse. He actually writes a blog and writes about YouTube, the internet, liscensing, and HDTV. He basically writes a lot about technology and sometimes he will address sports. His issues change but he will argue his point and right now it is about YouTube and Google Video. Go read his points, they are pretty good.

Roy S. Johnson's Blog

I found this blog because I worked with Roy for a week and he told me about it. I have read it ever since he suggested it to me. It is a interesting site because I am a sports fan and Roy is a guy who has been writing in this industry for years and yet he has a blog. It seems like the most simple way for his fans to follow him. This man has worked for Sports Illustrated and ESPN and he started a blog to hear peoples' opinions. He got feedback in the old days but it was delayed by good old fashion hand written letters. Now people can just write in their reply after reading his words. He also just writes what comes into his mind and he does not have to think about features and stories. I find it interesting to read about his thoughts and not these thought out stories. Go check it out, he updates pretty frequently.

ESPN 360

ESPN 360 is a sports fans dream, without TV you can watch highlights. It has shows on there and you can choose what you want to watch. It gives the fans control and we can choose to ignore what we don't want to watch. It upgrades a regular ESPN.com to a super status. The site streams well and the system works well. ESPN 360 is combing the channel and website, it is making existing line disappear. ESPN has recently taken steps to have their channel on phones. Verizon wireless just launched Mobile TV and it has eight live channels. It is currently only available in certain areas in the US. As the internet keeps growing, video seems to be jumping on its back.

The Galaxy Riders

I was walking around the streets in my usual clothes and this guy and girl with a camera come up to me and ask if they can take a picture of me. I ask for what and they said it was for a website magazine. So, I said okay and they told me that it was going to me on the thegalaxyriders.com. First I thought galazy writers because he said it was a magazine. But when googled that, it ended up being a sci-fi thing. Than I googled, galaxy riders and it ended being the magazine I was looking for. I am not up there yet but I will be eventually. It is a pretty clean site and it is a NYC based blog. It is a site about fashion and hip-hop. It is an unique looking site but it is fresh and clean. I think it is an interesting website, it is a site for clothes to but they respect all types of brands. When I am on the site, I will update my entry.

Magazines on USB...

The New Yorker has just released their entire magazine collection on a USB storage drive for $150.00. It is scanned pages of the magazine and it does have an index system, it is also 80 years of the magazine in one storage unit. I think this is personally pretty unique and interesting even though it is not anything revoluntionary. If I am a fan of a magazine and I did not have the space to hold all the hard copies than I would want one of these for the magazine. It is also cool to look back at old magazines and see how the magazine changed over time. It is a museum in a storage drive and it is easily accessible to anyone. More magazines should follow in their footsteps.

Use your brain for videogames?

Project Epoc has created a controller to hook up to your head, this controller allows you to play videogames. I think it would be pretty cool to play for a little but I think videogames should be limited to handheld controllers. Maybe I am an old school videogamer and I like holding a controller, rather than having a machine read my brain. Handheld controllers also add the element of just pushing the wrong button and now that will be eliminated. The controller would probably also be very sensatitive and some people hate that. I think the benefits of videogames would decrease also because hand-eye coordination would be lost. I think it is an interesting concept but a whole body controller would be the coolest thing.

David Choi

To continue the trend of Davids and people with similar names, I will write shortly about David Choi. I found this David Choi by accident when I was looking for the artist I just wrote about. It is an interesting site, a square breaks up into little square and as you hover over them they represent different projects by David Choi. When you click on the squares, they actually go to his projects and they are all flash html sites and ads. It is basically a portfolio that everyone can go and visit. His work has become his art also portfolios use to be printed and taken to your potential job. Now portfolios are online and are available to become more than just portfolios, they become an experience. They allow people to follow certain artists and creators of the sites. It creates a central place for people to follow the artists and it allows us to see a piece of their minds. It allows us to give credit where credit is due and advertisements and pictures are not just by anonymous people.

http://www.davidchoi.net/

David Choe

I discovered David Choe awhile back when I picked up his book at my friend's house. I never knew the guys name till I found his art online one day, his art is distinguishable. I knew he was the author of the book that I had seen around ten years ago and I was right. This guy has only drawn two books and he is a graffitti artist so he would be hard to find without the internet. He has done some guerilla art and he has painted on sneakers to canvas. He has created commericials for corporations and he has also made art in prison for getting arrested while doing one of his guerilla art projects.
His art is pretty unique and the variety of what he paints ranges. His art has to be seen and felt to be experienced. It is not something that I can explain or put on paper. I think his art is unique and abstract, it shows a variety of his interests and he demonstrates it well. I think the internet has allowed his following to grow and become something that everyone can appreciate and enjoy. It has been able to out grow its original audience. Last but not least, it looks great.

Protecting Children from the Internet

The internet today has become a dangerous place for children. Children can be exposed to a lot of things and may be harassed by others. Now companies are trying to protect and limit the amount children are exposed to with toys. The toys are basically shortcut keys to make sure kids use the toy. If a kid is given a keyboard, then he or she has unlimited possibilites but if you limit it by giving him or her access to only certain things than he or she is forced to pick among their choices. The toys limit a child's freedom but the internet may expose content that children should not be exposed to. It allows parents to know that their children are not witnessing things that they believe that the children are not ready for. The toys would allow children to feel like they are apart of the "adult" world and it will allow them to access what they want without the hassle, it is also a toy so kids can have fun with the devices.

13 Unique Computer Keyboards

These keyboards are all for different uses, they were created to change something that has become so standard. Most of the designs defy conventional design and are unique in every way. Most of the designs are amazing to look at but, the most simple yet distinguishable keyboard is the keyboard is the one with no letters on them. The keyboard is developed to cause your brain to adapt and memorize where the keys are.
The other keyboards are weird looking but supposedly they are great devices. The virtual keyboard is cool because it is capable of being more than keyboard and it is able to adapt to any surface. All these designs are amazing but what the future holds is promising, maybe soon we won't even have to type or draw and our minds and machines will work together.

Body, Space, and Technology

I went through the website and I saw all the performances under volume seven. I saw the videos and I think they summed up what the internet is about these days. There was a video of Quake 3 and how people were playing online. I think this helps to explain what the internet has become because it demonstrates how people from different places and times can be playing the same game. People meet in a virtual environment to play the game and to have fun. Than you see another videos and they just show how a person is living. It shows footage of a dog and a owner traveling in a car and a footprint filled with water. It just shows everyday life and this view of other lives would not be able to be seen without the internet. The internet helps to connect more people and it allows people to see different perspectives. Yet like Quake 3, it connects people together and allows people to be at the same place at the same time. The two videos of the setup performances also allow the same phenomenon to happen yet the two performances were prepared for. The two set up performances allows more people to view the show, most people would never get to experiences anything like this unless the internet existed. The internet allows people to explore and be amazed by experimental art. It helps to establish a new network and new space to find and enjoy new things.
